Day #6

We went to the ancient Mayan ruins called COBA.
I learned lots of interesting things about the Mayans...
For example, how the winning captain of the famous "basketball" game was actually sacrificed. It was an honor to be sacrificed and return as a God. Or how a young virgin, myself as depicted in the picture, was also sacrificed. They would lean her over a rock, break her back and paralyze her and then sacrifice her. What a way to die! And most interesting of all... in 2012 all the planets are going to align over the top of a black hole. The cold climates will turn hot and the hot climates will turn cold. That is if we are not all sucked into the black hole. Better stop blogging and start ordering my food storage!
There is remnants of a large road that they are finding once connected all the old ruins to each other. How neat is that?!?
Not to mention the 150ft climb to the top of the ruins. What a beautiful view and a scary climb down.
Not only did we have a wonderful time at the ruins but back at the resort we enjoyed a delicious STEAK dinner and finally found some good chocolate dessert.

The ruins are amazing, aren't they?! It is scary to come back down - the steps are usually so irregular.
