4th of July

July 4th, 2007



We began the day with trying to fulfill Daniel and I's dream to run the trail on the National Mall. Seeing how all the roads around the National Mall were blocked off and people were not allowed in until 10:00am b/c of the 4th; we actually did our run on the streets around the National Mall. It was great fun dodging all the people that were out and about at 8:30 in the morning (why?). We finally left the hotel at 11:38am seeing how the hotel only had one person working behind the desk and one person doing valet on the freakin 4th of July!! The real fun started though when we needed to go about six blocks to get on the freeway and of course all the roads were blocked off with no detour signs. Basically it was a trial and error situation with the wrong turning meaning waiting in traffic just to do a u-turn. We finally headed out of DC around 12:30-very long six blocks. Friday night we went over to the Keatons house for a 4th of July bash :)! Kinleigh had a blast playing with CJ on the swing set, in the sand, and on the trampoline. She was such a brave girl and did her very own sparklers. She was a little afraid of the fireworks at first and actually enjoyed the show put on by the men. I of course loved the firework display not just b/c they were great fireworks, but b/c Kinleigh actually sat in my lap for more then 5 minutes. What a great night to make up for a long ride home.
I almost forgot to mention that we also celebrated Daniel's b-day at the 4th of July party. The Willifords bought the best cake. Look and see if you can figure out what was on the cake?

The cake is a picture of Daniel holding a cake from his last year birthday which also had a goofy picture of Daniel on the cake! Confused?!?
